Dermal Fillers
About Dermal Fillers
Our skin naturally contains a hyaluronic acid and plays a key role in keeping our skin looking full and taught.
Ageing is a normal and natural process. The production of hyaluronic acid, collagen & elastin decreases as we age and can significantly change the appearance of our skin.
Fat pads underneath the layers of our skin, provide strength and structure to the contours of our face. However, as we age the fat pads breakdown and become less compact causing our face to lose volume, shape and structure.
Dermal fillers are cross-linked hyaluronic based products commonly used to target areas of volume loss and enhance the fullness of facial contours. They are also hydrophilic, meaning they attract water and therefore have a slight hydrating effect to them.
Dermal fillers can reshape & volumise contours of the face in a very natural and subtle way, enhancing an individual’s natural beauty.
Dermal fillers have been extensively researched and are safe products to use. Although absolute precision and care is taken when administering dermal filler treatments, complications are always possible. Therefore, any excessive swelling, changes to the colour of skin and progressive worsening pain must immediately be communicated with the practitioner.
Results of dermal filler can be seen immediately, with initial swelling and inflammation post treatment. This can take up to two weeks to settle. Dermal fillers can last between 6-12 months and in some cases longer, depending on the choice of filler used and other factors.
Dermal fillers can be used to treat various areas of the face. Most commonly: lips, cheeks, chin, jaw, nose and tear troughs.
